More Typewriters Received

Last shipment we received many typewriters for the older students. This has been a wonderful help for them. Many sponsors paid for these typewriters and Shannon did a very long and hard trip to pick them up.
These typewriters are so appreciated by the students and their families. Thank you everyone who was involved in this project. It is greatly appreciated!

Baby vitamins that were sent down in the last Medrano shipment have been very gratefully received by the mothers. Especially with the wet season there are lots of illnesses and the mothers are very glad to have these vitamins for their babies.

Thanks to a great donation of canned formula received in the recent shipment of MFC donations we have been able to supply cans of formula to mothers who do not have enough breast milk or are unable to breastfeed.

The latest Medrano shipment of MFC donations has arrived!! We had a lot of fun unpacking!

The students gifts were written down in a book and the students now have to sign for them when they are picked up …..so now we will be able to answer the questions much more quickly as to whether your sponsored student has their gift or not!

This group of children in Panajachel were so happy to receive the recent donations of supplies for their soccer team. Coach Robin volunteers to teach the children soccer in this very poor neighborhood. He hopes that this will foster a love of sport, good health and keep children out of gangs.

Robin is a young man who teaches soccer to the local youth. His idea is that children who are playing soccer will be healthier, happier and will not want to join in gangs. He teaches to both boys and girls. He recruits children from the poorest neighborhoods to be play on his teams. He encourages all children to join in.

We were very pleased to be able to help him with a donation of sports

equipment that had been sent through the Medrano shipments. Thank you to everyone who collected these donations from their various soccer teams and sent them to us. They are greatly valued here by Robin and his soccer teams!

PANAJACHEL–The unpacking and distribution of the latest MFC shipment continues. Each box contains wonderful surprises of highly valued items.

Vitamins were recently unpacked and inventoried for distribution to those in need of supplemental nutrition.

Sharon said “Thank you to the hard work of Sue Frank and everyone who has supported her – there are lots of vitamins for families. Thank you to everyone who sent us vitamins for many needy people. Paulo, Esperanza, and Luis were three of the first to receive big bottles of vitamins. They were very excited about having their photos on the bottles!”

Shoes From MFC Distributed Today

PANAJACHEL–Many pairs of needed shoes were distributed today at MFHQ (a.k.a. Sharon’s house).

These shoes were just a small part of the many kind donations made possible through the latest MFC shipment sent to Panajachel via Medrano.

The scheduling of the happy people receiving these shoes are managed by the MF Staff. The people are interviewed about their living circumstances, sized, and cared for through the Operations Program.

Fund Raising Status for Operations Program

PANAJACHEL 4/15/08–The current status of fund raising for the Operations Program is 8.1% of its required annual budget. The annual budget is for the period 4/1/08 through 3/31/09. An additional $109,479 is required for Mayan Families to continue its general operations for the next 11.5 months.

PANAJACHEL–The latest shipment of contributions made possible by members of the Mayan Families Connections arrived on March 31. The contents of the boxes, often called “the Medrano shipment”, had many wonderful and very needed things.

Distribution of many clothing and shoes began on April 3rd. Below is a sampling of just a few of the many happy faces receiving the generosity and work of all the wonderful people who made this happen.
